To
be found at the northern end of the valley, Cortina and Norikura are
two smaller resorts with Cortina boasting the highest snowfalls in
the Hakuba valley. Cortina has recently introduced the double black
diamond club, allowing expert skiers and snowboarders to ride the
steeps and powder chutes situated in the resort. The resort requires
all customers to attend a short briefing with ski patrol, and on a
powder day this resort is superb.
The
mountains are serviced by some very good lifts and the grooming is
also of a very high standard. What these resorts lack in size they
make up for in more challenging terrain and advanced trails.
