About The Resort
One of the most popular ski destinations in Switzerland is the resort of Interlaken. Located in the Bernese Oberland, Interlaken literraly translates to "between two lakes." In this case, the lakes are Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Interlaken's popularity comes from the fact that it is located at the base of the Jungfrau Ski Region which includes the three major mountain peaks known as the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
From Interlaken, you have ski shuttle and direct train access to the ski area as well as local ski villages, such as Grindelwald, Wengen, and Murren. All wonderful towns in their own right, but do not offer the lower rates of staying in Interlaken.
In addition to the skiing, Interlaken is a wonderful Swiss village with lots of shopping, restaurants, bars and nightlife. Non skiers will also enjoy the fact that there are plenty of day tours that can be arranged wither by bus or by train, depending on your numbers. Cities like Bern are all within just a 1 hour train ride.
