Portes Du Soleil, France

About The Resort

Les Portes du Soleil encompasses thirteen resorts between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland. It is ranked one of the two largest ski areas in the world due to having over 400 miles of marked pistes, about 200 lifts, spreading over 14 different valleys, and 1,036 square miles in size.

In the summer of 1934, the first lift, the Pleney cable car with 25 seats, was built on the land. This was the beginning of the resort before they were even called Portes du Soleil. Over time, more lifts were built, including the Boule de Gomme draglift in 1937, which is still in operation today, located in Les Gets. In 2017, the fastest chairlift, Ranfoilly, also located in Les Gets, was put into service.

It will take guests several days to adventure through all the different resorts, but the fun will never stop thanks to the wide variety of difficulties on slopes and the ease of access to them that Les Portes du Soleil offers.
