About The Resort
Located about 3 hours south of Munich, Zell-am-See is indeed a winter Wonderland of skiing, sightseeing plus historical and cultural attractions. Located in Salzburgerland, it is a small and picturesque resort famous for attracting skiers and non-skiers.
Originally founded around 740AD it has managed to maintain the cozy atmosphere of an old village with some of the hotels and buildings dating from the early 1200’s. The pristine mountain and valley landscape and wonderful lakefront views make Zell am See a photographers dream destination in both winter and summer.
For the skiers, it is a paradise. Over 138km of runs covering the ski areas of the Schmittenhoe in Zell, Kapun, and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Also, thanks to the high altitude of the Glacier, Zell am See offers a guarantee for the skiers. Finally, if you didn't think this area was enough, Zell am See is now lift connected to the resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglemm, all under the same lift pass. (see the interactive map Here)
Non skiers will also enjoy Zell am See due to the number of shops located throughout the village. In addition, you can hop on the train and be in Salzburg or Innsbruck in less than 2 hours. You can also visit Kitzbuhel in less than 1 hour, which is also a plus for the skiers, as they can ski in Kitzbuhel as well.
